For this piece I built a replica of the largest proposed monument celebrating Colonialism. The truly ambitious vision by Spanish architect Alberto de Palacio in honor of Columbus, for the 1893 Columbian Exposition, designed to be larger than the Eiffel Tower. A minute replica of the world, a thousand feet in Diameter, crowned by a life size replica of Columbus's ship La Santa Maria. (see video of Santa Maria) I inflate the globe with my breath, and hold poses based on images of Atlas collected during the year of the residency, projected by a slide projector on the side of the gallery. For 6 months, I do a daily body building routine and diet using Charles Atlas'Dynamic Tension program from 1944.
